Instructions For Drifters Sleep Plugs
Your RIGHT earplug is the one with the DOT. The dot on your Drifters might be white or any other high-contrast color.
While maintaining the correct orientation of your earplug… push the canal end into your ear.
A slight back & forth rotation may be needed to wiggle it in. The removal handle (flap) points backward.
Pulling your ear outward to the side with your other hand can sometimes make it easier.
Remove your earplugs by pulling on any part of the earplug that you can easily grip. They are very strong and don’t tear easily but please handle them carefully to ensure long life.
Avoid using your fingernails to remove your earplugs as this can create weak spots or tears.
The earplugs have to go all the way in to be fully in place. Once you feel they are seated in your ear correctly, they will be snug and you’ll feel plugged.
How To Clean Your Drifters
You can wash your Drifters with soap and water or use a moist wipe. They are 100% water proof and can washed as often as you like.
Instructions for Full-Shell Style Earplugs
These instructions are for any of our earplugs that are a Full-Shell style. “Full-Shell” means that it has a “TOP” portion which tucks up underneath the cartilage as is labeled in the picture below. skip to video
As with all of our products, your RIGHT earplug is the one with the DOT.
*If your earplugs have a filter, note specific cleaning instructions below.
*If your earplugs have a filter and a neck cord (convertible) - the bottom neck cord socket is the filtered hole, so plugging it will make the earplugs block more noise. The top neck cord socket is to hold the neck cord while leaving the bottom socket open to filtered sound
While holding the correct orientation of your earplug, insert the canal end first. A slight back & forth rotating motion can help to wiggle it in.
If your earplug has a TOP portion and it’s getting in the way, rotate the TOP forward a few degrees so you can get the BOTTOM canal portion in – then rotate the TOP back and tuck it underneath the cartilage as shown below.
It will feel seated and sealed when it’s in correctly.
Use the provided lubricant on the canal portion of your earplug to make it easier as you get used to putting them in.
When inserting your full-shell custom earplugs, focus on getting the bottom portion into your ear canal as the first step. In most cases, if you rotate it top-forward by a 1/4 turn, it helps to get the top part out of your way.
Once the canal portion is inserted, you should be able to feel it and the sound will already be dampened. Then, rotate the top backward again (just 1/4 turn) to get it back into place.
Make sure that you tuck the pointed top portion behind the cartilage folds in your ear to lock it in. (see video).
If you have trouble getting them in, apply a very light film of Vaseline lubricant to the canal end. If your earplugs have a filter or vent hole, be careful to not get any lubricant in the hole at the canal end or on the filter.
How To Clean Them
If your earplugs are solid with no filter, you can wash them with soap and water or use wet wipes.
If your earplugs have a filter DO NOT immerse them in water. Remove filters before washing or just wipe outside.
Note: As the product is custom made for you, the appearance of your earplugs may vary from the above image.
How To Clean Filtered Plugs
Use a damp cloth to wipe the outer shell of your earplugs.
Unless necessary, it’s best to not remove your filters because the in-and-out can weaken the mold’s retention of the filter.
If you DO want to remove the filters from the molds… Grasp the filter with fingers and pull away from the mold. Do not wiggle the filter as this can damage the mold. NOTE: The filter will come out and go in more easily if the earmold is warm as heat makes it more pliable
Once the filter is removed, wash the mold with water and mild soap. Allow molds to dry before reinserting the filters.
If dust or dirt accumulates on a filter, remove it gently with a cloth or small brush which is included with your order.
If earwax accumulates in the sound port at the end of the canal, use the wire loop on the included tool to scoop out any wax.

Getting Them In Your Ears
Your RIGHT earplug is the one with the DOT.
While holding the correct orientation of your earplug, insert the canal end into your ear. A slight back & forth rotating motion can help to wiggle it in.
You don’t need to force it. It only fits one way and follows a path to get there. It will feel seated when it’s in correctly.
If you have trouble getting them in, apply a very thin film of Vaseline lubricant to the canal end. Be careful to not get any lubricant in the hole at the canal end or on the filter.
To remove – push the plug straight up and outward from underneath.
